What is your question?
It's in a really tight spot. Do I need to take out the starter for easier access or is there a special tool?

Not too sure on that one but may I ask why you are replacing the switch?
Backup lights do not work and the switch was checked by my mechanic who said it was bad. Thanks
Just because.........is this a manual trans?...neutral safety and reverse lights are separate issues.
Yes, this is a manual. I checked the obvious, lights and fuses. While the car was in for another issue, I asked him to check the switch to see if that was the problem. He checked while I was there and the switch tested bad. Thanks
Ok, thanks. I did however think that an oversized socket may work but then again the rubber coating on the switch slightly overlaps the nut. I am guessing the rubber coating is a water seal and any damage to that could jepordize the integrity of the seal? Thanks
If it is an automatic, the neutral safety or PRNDL switch does indeed operate the reverse lights. I have not replaced one of these on a Honda Accord but as globalhelper said, if you cannot get to it because the starter or another component is in your way, go ahead and remove that component. You may consider buying a Haynes repair manual from the local parts store. Not sure if that procedure is covered but there should be enough information to get you there. Good luck
Thanks for your support. It is a manual and I was shown by the mechanic while standing there that it was indeed bad.
