I took my car to auto zone they used a little computer and it show several misfires , probable cause crank shaft sensor , one of the techs (lol) said it could be dirty or just needs to be replaced , the service is free and takes less than 5 minutes , do u want me to list the codes .po300 and po316 is the two I have from AutoZone. yes my car is starting but it didn't last week .
yeah i know it's free.that's why i tell everyone to go there and to get them to print the codes out.those are not techs, they are parts sales people.you will find some good ones there, that have been there for a long time that knows what they are talking about, but they have such a big turn over rate, they can't keep people.
well I have a friend at the Local Ford dealership , they snuck it in and its got the original , plug's , wires and an aftermarket coil , needless to say its 558.00 to fix , the only reason I am considering paying that is I don't trust theses little shops in my area , all I read are upset people on the reviews anyway thanks for the help .I would do it myself but I don't want to risk screwing it up ,ill let ford do that lol.
same problem everywhere.hard to find a good trusted repair shop.why don't your friend do it on the side?if they are replacing all the plugs, and all 6 coils with motorcraft parts, that is a deal!the factory plugs are good for 60,000-100,000.they are like $5.00 each.if they put motorcraft coils 6 of them, they are $134.00 each.sounds like they are only charging you for parts and no labor,if they are replacing all the coils, and all the plugs!good luck.
Well , I checked the parts via the numbers on the estimates , its says 1 ignition coil 120.00 ,1 plug 6.00 and a wire set 105.00, the only question I have is, I'm pulling up the ignition coil pack via their part number , a wire set and 1 plug (lol) 3 parts 234.00 at my local auto parts store its only 173 .00 in parts and that's 6 hi end plugs at 12.00 limited lifetime war , coil pack 73.00 same war , and wire set , I reviewed the video on replacing plugs ,wire set and the coil pack looks real easy . I pretty sure since I have done my own work on my Vulcan 900 this will be cake only issue I foresee is that the fouled plug #3 ,well all 3 plugs are a tight fit but the front 3 are right in the open along with the coil pack is all right in front of my face .
Crossing my fingers and I'm going to do it tmro .
well,i was going to mention after market parts, but i thought maybe you didn't want to do that.it's all after market to me.someone makes those parts for ford, for instance autolite makes motorcraft spark plugs in the same factory where they make autolite.it is just to a different spec.for ford.put the motorcraft platinum finewire plugs back in your car, part #sp411.don't try to re-gap or you will bend the tip, should be .054 gap.should be pre-gapped,if it's off plus or minus.006 don't re-gap.if more use a wire gauge style to gap.your car DOES NOT have spark plug wires!it has COP ignition coils, one per cylinder.the plugs are $5.00 each, and the coils are $81.99 each at Autozone.take your time and use some PB BLASTER when trying to remove the plugs.you do not want to strip the threads out of the head!Wells makes autozone ignition and emission parts for autozone, then they sell it under the Duralast name.good luck.dont't put pulstar plugs in your car,if that's what you are planning!
Check out my profile picture of the coil pack (lol) thank you but you lost me on the coils and wire set my car is a 2005 Taurus , it has an ignition coil pack , looks like a brick with 4 , 5mm nuts and 6 ports on it for the wire set to plug into and there are numbers 1-6 on the wires its a direct connect from the coil pack to the each spark plug via the numbered wires, I know what your talking about it looks like a 6 inch tube , that's what confused me ,I checked and dble checked the part number and looked at my engine ,I thought the same thing about the tube things but its not in my engine . I just read a note on the back of the estimate said the wire set is the fac original , with an aftermarket coil pack , I bet you when I pull those plugs they are the factory's as well .Again I do thank you
ahh I see the issue its not my header , I didn't want to make the same post twice and I read your answers and just ask a few more question , again I really thank you for the help and I apologize for the confusion ..Jay
