no service required on the chains.there are 2 of them.
That is wrong dealer lists timing/belt replacement for past 5 decades I know of Kia around 40000-60000 miles Toyota about 90-120000 ford 120000-150000
forget about kia and toyota, you have a ford with timing chains, not timing belt!go ahead and go to the stealership let let them do the work that don't need to be done.you vehicle will go to the junkyard with the chains still a working with the ones that are on it now.google or bing about changing your timing chains on your vehicle and READ!i have a ford truck with 305,000 miles, original factory timing chains still on it!
Good for you. Mine has 389,000 and the timing chain just broke. Repairman says common. My repair quote is $1589.00. Everything included.
BUT,you have a 4.0L Explorer,8th digit of the vin# is an E most likely, and you have 3 chains on that engine, and the engine has to be removed from the vehicle to work on the one in the rear. you would come out a lot cheaper to get a used engine from the junk yard!
Estimator off from real world for this job trying to get better info to improve site. Doing maintance should be clear and done right.not off by 300-900% the dealer and Manu standard should be clear and have book labor and time to see and have acurate parts list. This is maintenance.
Yeah, whatever!!
