2000 ford explorer lost power battery was dead ,cranks but it won't start (HElP)

if you lost power driving down the road,and/or it cut off on you,the alternator is most likely bad and you were running off the battery until the vehicle drained it.theft light on?

When pulled over, perhaps on side of road....run over any rough or bumpy terrain that could have tripped fuel pump inertia switch? .. When trying jump start, touch cables in reverse polarity maybe....did you see any sparks??
