What is your question?
First time stranded , replaced inertia switch and that seemed to work for a few days , then started extended cranking no start , until I let it cool down 10 minutes (if that) and cycle key to 'run' position several times , until I hear fuel pump kick in. Then it starts right up. Haven't located a diagram yet , but would a relay either before or after the inertia switch cause these symptoms?

It's got a relay under hood... but.... ***IF' there is battery pwr. at the enertia sw....when key turned on***.... All that other stuff up front is working!! IF pump ain't working at that time... Most likely the pump.... Don't know of anything behind the inertia switch but wiring to the pump... 'IF' you got pressure and still no start... TPS may be out of range = clear flood and no injector pulse! Then after a few, works ok and starts... Push gas pedal 1/2 and try it..
Thank you! I had an idea it was set up like that , and from what I've found about the fuel pump , it's a 'return-less' system , so the pressure regulator is integral with the pump module. My next step was to find some one with the right adapter (gave all my american car stuff away years ago-DUMB!) and watch the fuel pressure both KOEO & KOER & see what it does. I also found a TSB about low fuel level and being parked on an incline causing the same symptom- applied to '99-'01 explorers 4.0. So far tonight my wifes' been out & filled up first , and has had no problems at all with at least 4 stops along her travels. Hope that's a good sign! Thanks again for the input--GO GREEN JELLY!.........
Gotcha!! Just threw in some random ideas as to what it could be... Kinda rare for FoMoCo pumps to give problems... Wish I could say the same for GM!!.... 'Probably' 60:1 ratio...at the shop.. No joke!!
Thanks , that IS reassuring , I really don't want to put a pump in this , if I don't need to.
