My 98 Ford Escort SE I wanted to know if the motor is single or dual overhead?

It has a aluminum cover and says split port 2000 so I'm assuming this would be a single overhead

That is correct! .. See next answer, vin (vehicle identification number) is on the dash - drivers side - looking through windshield .. Also on vehicle registration .. Drivers door jam.

17 digit vin # location>>open the drivers door,label will have it on there...also it is on your vehicle registration..also,if standing outside of car on the drivers side,look through the windshield at bottom corner..it is stamped into the dash also,as stated above..
