When trying to start it does nothing

get a helper and a volt meter.have helper try and start it with the key in the crank position while you check the small wire on the starter solenoid for signal/voltage. if you have power to that small wire and the starter does not attempt to spin the engine over,then the starter is bad.if no power on that small wire,when key is in cranking position,then suspect the ignition switch is bad(electrical part) not key cylinder.post findings

Also try to start with shifter in NEUTRAL... IF no luck there.. While a helper holds key to START .. Knock the hell out of the starter motor with a hammer .. IF it wakes up and starts to crank the engine then .. Replace the starter motor!! .. Are you getting into something you can not do here? .. If so, have it fixed at an auto repair shop!
