My belt snapped due to a pulley that has a plate in front of it siezing up.

That would be the A/C Compressor... Here's one option: A/C Compressor By-Pass Pulley $ 42.49 /ea NAPA Part Number: *6601829*

I can't afford that at the moment.anyway I could leave the compressor out and just get a different size belt
If it will clear the A/C mounting bracket(s) it is possible as some did not have A/C ... You can remove what 'CAN be removed' but some of the mounting for the compressor doesn't just bolt on, may require cutting in a very tight space!!.... Good luck with it whatever!!
