How do I retrieve the wiring for the license plate light which fell into bumper?

License plate light was out. I removed the plastic light cover but the wire and bulb were not attached to the plastic cover as shown in the manual. I am assuming the light bulb and wires have fallen into the bumper, however, I cannot find an entry area to retrieve the wiring from the bumper, in order to replace the bulb into the plastic cover. Any ideas?
