When I slow down my car goes into 1st gear and won't change when I pull off.

What is your question?

I have to pull over and turn the engine off and restart it then it changes gears fine, until I slow down or stop again

Check with the parts dept. at your local dealer. Let them know the symptoms and see if they know if that year still had problems with the ignition switches causing that symptom.
