What is your question?
Every time I connect the windshield wiper fluid container, my battery dies. The mini-pump is still connected to the cables but my car only dies when its plugged into the container.

I think you should go to the local auto repair facility and show this to the top mechanic there so this mystery can be solved! .. I'd love to hear the final outcome...
if you are saying the windshield washer pump is killing your battery when the electrical plug is connected to the washer pump and the battery don't die when disconnected from the washer pump, then go buy a new washer pump,TAAP Windshield Washer Pump,$15.99.if this is not what you mean, then IDK!
Hello, do you mean that the battery drains until dead when you plug in the pump, or that the battery will instantly crash to low voltage? If your battery eventually drains with the pump connected, you likely have a bad switch that is always activating the pump. If you don't hear it running, it may be bad. Tell me everything there is to know about operating the windshield washers in your vehicle. Stevieray1 is probably on the right track, but I don't think the motor is the cause, I think it is a symptom. Cool problem, post back here so we can help you out. How did you realize the washer pump was the culprit?
Unplug the washer pump and check to see if you have voltage all the time on the wire that plugs onto the pump. If so you have a short in the switch, you should only have power at that point when you push the switch to the washer position. Before you replace the switch check the connector at the switch for loose wire or burnt insulator between pins. You may just have a short at the connector, if that all looks good then replace the switch.
The fluid pump itself can be pulled out of the plastic container .. Read the original post here again : That's where it gets confusing! "Every time I connect the windshield wiper **fluid container**, my battery dies... **The mini-pump is still connected to the cables** but my car only dies when its **plugged into the container** I truly believe there is another problem altogether - the windshield washer pump circuit is powered by the ignition switch! .. However I suppose it doesn't matter because as usual, there has been NO response to any of these suggestions... Good day.
Right, it is impossible for the WW pump to drain the battery unless there is some combination of bad main relay, WW pump, bad ignition switch, bad switch, bad wiring. In either case, there HAS to be more than one problem localized on this circuit from the battery, flowing through the WW fluid tank. What gets me, if the WW fluid reservoir is somehow leaking into the motor, causing a short, there would be a boat load of bad fuses as the water in the reservoir is ionized, and therefore can transmit electricity.... This car would likely burn to the ground if the battery cables don't go first. I also say this is bogus.
Thanks for the reply, it seems we get a lot of, lets just say > fictitious post lately .. I guess some people consider it fun to have others waste their time on them.. No matter, it is entertaining .. Every once and awhile we get a legitimate reason to continue though, that's why I do this, it's kinda rewarding for all parties concerned when we do get an appreciative reply stating the vehicle is back on the road thanks to advice they received from the RepairPal - Q&A.
