Its more of how the batt acts and what it goes threw. If it goes threw alot of cold weather it could go sooner. The batt should last a few years at least. When you have to jump it over and again than its time for a new one.
oh boy!this story could get long.the number one thing that gets to a battery more than anything else is heat.not saying that cold weather does not, because it does.if they have a few years on them, the way they build them now,if the heat don't get em the cold will.the specs have changed on batteries in the past few years.not as good as they used to be!5 or 6 years ago,i have seen batteries last 7,8,9,10 years, lots of them.but not now, that is why the warranties have changed on the batteries now,at parts houses, walmart, and most anywhere.the warranty use to be, on the best battery that a parts house,or walmart sold was an 8 year battery.meaning,3 year free replacement and pro-rated for 5 years, not any more.now it is 3 year free replacement, prorated for 2 years.why?because it was costing the largest battery maker tons of money!Johnson Controls,no 1 of 3 battery makers.so,now i hear people say as a rule of thumb, per say, they will change their battery out in 4 years, regardless, if it needs it or not.that's well and good,if you have the funds for that, which some of us don't.also people have to realize if you have a battery tested, and the tester says it's a bad battery.is it?yes and no!when your battery info is entered into the tester,it will show if it's up to snuff.ca,cca,reserve,etc.it still starts your vehicle, yes.does your computer on your vehicle see this, yes.will it affect your computer and sensor voltage, yes.so,when do i replace it?who knows, have it checked every 2 years at least, and also if it won't start your vehicle.am i correct,i think so,just maybe.i'll get some attention to this one.oh,JC makes lotsof batteries "Johnson controls also makes some or all of these batteries as well.Autozone,Duralast,Walmart,Everstart Acura, Advance Auto Parts, Autocraft, Western Auto, Tough One, Alliance, American Hardware, Ames, Varta, Blains Farm & Fleet, Battery Alliance, Bosch, Carrefour(Europe), Champion, Amara Raja Batteries LTD(Joint venture with Johnson Controls India). Varta, Optima Batteries, LTH, and Heliar are all battery manufactures owned by Johnson Controls. Johnson Controls supplies Ford Motor company, Diamler Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Isuzu with original equipment batteries. So next time you go and buy a battery, or an automobile chances are its a battery made by Johnson Controls." they call me "Hank" Dr.Quinn Medicine Woman MD
Who test batteries anymore?.. Ask that 'parts salesperson' at Zone or Advance to check the specific gravity on a serviceable battery with an actual Hydrometer and see what reaction you get... Oh they'll throw a quick load on it, what's that prove? .. Typically a battery has a reliable service life of about 5 years as a *rule of thumb*.. They call me all sorts of things That's life.. Dealing with the public
they don't know, when they check your battery at the zone or advance, they have been showed ONE time how to use/check it.then they just tell you what it read, like you no what that means?then they look at you,and say,you need a new battery.they did their job, they sold you a battery!i just wanted attention when i typed that story.but you right 4-5 years!gotta go,oil change, going to test drive, not gonna check level, left plug out,it's ok right?
