Do i need a new battery when my service charging battery system comes on my dash

I don't know about Chevy , but for reference (and it might make it worth asking the dealer), Hondas' after 2010 , came with 3 year , unlimited mileage warranties on their batteries. Just a thought , it may still be covered.
