turn signal buzzes when used.

ONLY when the turn signals are used? No other action causes this? Buzzing when turn signals are used,, hum...... this buzzing sound, can you locate it?
If those lights are coming on either codes are setting, or the instrument cluster is simply losing communication with those other modules. Start by pulling codes in every module, then pick one and diagnose it and see where it leads.
I know this is an old thread, but I scoured all info looking for an answer to this problem. 2004 chevy impala. My issue was at first, the seat belt , air bag , abs , battery , security lights would come on randomly. Then the blinkers quit and the hazard switch would buzz when trying to use the blinker. Replaced hazard switch because everyone said it was the issue. No change. Soon the air bag light would stay on. Started checking grounds. No change. Then when trying blinkers the guages would reset. Sometimes when stepping on the brakes it would do the same. Replaced multifunction switch. No change. Fixed wires on bcm harness from old alarm instal. No change. Put pressure on back of ignition harness on accident with blinker on and buzzing and the buzzing changed. Took apart the ignition switch (just replaced about a year ago) and found a corroded contact. Cleaned it and put it back together and blinkers finally work. I'm putting this info in here for others looking for a solution.
I have a very similar issue with my 04 Monte Carlo SS Dale JR Supercharged and I've been looking everywhere for the answer.... Please help! So a few days ago the issue began with a buzzing sound coming from the dash when i used the turn signal and at the same time the brake, battery and airbag lights came on. The Trac off, check engine , and and service traction control were already on fron the harness being cut and at the time I hadn't fixed it yet but that has been fixed now. It did the same thing as above a few times over the next couple days and then began with the no crank no start. Everything works fine when you turn the key and doesn't dim it just won't crank or anything. So I waited a bit and Wala it starts right up fine for the next day or so. Then last night same issue again won't crank and now I have no turn signals at all but the emergency flashers are fine when I push the button. So after messing with it I've discovered that if I flick the signal switch back and forth several times after a couple minutes it will start right up and be fine until I turn it off. And everything works fine while it's running except for I have no turn signals now.The buzzing in the dash has stopped too, whether it starts up or not. Have any of you heard of this and could it possibly be that because the signal switch is goin or has gone bad that it's the culprit of the no crank no start as well? I never had a problem with starting until the issue with the buzzing turn signals began
The dash mounted hazard warning switch is likely the culprit .. Very common failure on these GM vehicles. Switch replacement will be required. To prove this - push hazard switch on / off repeatedly several times - finishing in the off position - what are the results - everything back to normal now? Post the results for more repair information...... IF desired.
I had the switch unhooked when the signals stopped working as I had the bezel removed checking things. So after reading your suggestion I plugged it back in and the signals work again but at first the car still wouldn't crank. Which having the switch unplugged didn't make a difference with that issue either. Now after I did what you suggested the car seems to be cranking and working fine. It started at least 10 times without a problem and then I pushed the switch in and out some more and it's starting ok again. I haven't been able to get the issue with the airbag light, brake and buzzing to happen again since yesterday when I unhooked the switch to take the bezel off. Have you ever heard of the hazard switch causing the no crank issue like I'm having? I'm very tight on money so I need to be as sure as possible before replacing anything, especially since the other possibilities are so expensive. Thanks for your time and info.
Hazard switch is ALSO the signal light flasher - that switch needs to be replaced regardless! Cost less than $20.00 - easy to install. Now the vehicle may indeed have another problem - I can not confirm that without *hands-on* testing.
Everything normal until flipped the arm to turn on turn signal. Buzzing sound - coming from steering column or dashboard. Could not tell if the turn signal was flashing. Buzzing was quite evident, not ear piercing but was quite alarming considering was not expecting it. Right away noticed ABS, seatbelt, & airbag light came on simultaneously. At the next turn, turn signal made no sound - not even the blinking sound. The 3 dashboard lights still on. And at the 3rd turn, everything went back to normal - turn signal worked and the dashboard lights went off (all at the same time). Very strange!
NAPA part # EP28. Turn on the signal lights, hope they work at this time, listen for the flasher clicking, find it under the dash and replace it with that NAPA part. Let us know the results.
Thanks... I'll give it a try. How is the flasher making my ABS, seatbelt, and airbag lights come on?
To keep it simple and somewhat understandable, it is called a printed circuit overload on the 'common' ground side. If that does not fix your problem, let us know. If that does fix your problem let us know!
Lets say for the moment that a poor ground circuit is the cause,(quite likely) exactly how does replacing the flasher before that is proven help?
I agree that most here aren't technicians and they will be limited in what they can do, but if the problem is an excessive voltage drop on ground 202 (been there done that) then the flasher will buzz and you can lose communication between the ABS and airbag modules and the instrument cluster when the turn signals are activated. We shouldn't be so fast to pull the trigger on parts without some real proof and it isn't that hard to get.
That is the exact same thing my 04 Monte Carlo SS started doing the other day and now the buzzing is gone the signal doesn't work at all and I'm having no crank no start issues alongside it. And it never happened before the buzzing sound when using the signal stated happening. The buzzing sounded like it was very close to the ignition switch on mine on the dash but a little bit above the switch itself. Sorta where the hazard light switch is at. Can anyone help plz!!!!
