The problem is probably in your shift interlock not the switch you can't get it out. Or are you just making a comment.
I see in your profile you state you are a mechanic.....you also have answered a question on the shift lock so....what's up?
Don't mess with it...I have no problems with my '06 HHR either. The shift lock problem (that I got fixed) was caused by a problem with the shifter cable being too short or improperly routed. Just get the lock and cylinder changed right away when they call you.
This is not my problem, answer if you like but dont reply to my answers, thank you!

THE RECALL SAYS WEIGHT ON THE KEY CAUSES IT .. WHERE SI THE SHIFT INTERLOCK ?
From what I remember the key weight could cause it to open the ignition circuit. The ignition could shut off while driving. Wasn't sure if you key was actually stuck or you were making a comment that your switch doesn't do what the recall states.
