I let it sit awhile with hood open, and come back a couple hours later, and it starts 1st try. It seems it always happens after raining. My sons 1994 S-10 Blazer does the same thing.

next time it does that,take the distributor cap off,leave the wires hooked up and look inside of it with a flashlight,it;s probably got a hairline crack in it,and getting moisture/water in it.my sons did the same thing on 94 k1500 5.7L,but he didn/t tell me about it at first.he said he could lift the hood,let sun in for a couple hours and it would start.i told him to check the cap,sure enough moisture in cap,and very small hairline crack in cap.replaced cap and rotor,problem solved.buy a lifetime warranty cap and rotor around $60.00 at the Zone!post findings.tell your son to check his also!
