WHAT CAN BE WRONG?

THE ONLY THING PULLING THE FUSE CORRECTS IS ALLOWING THE KEY TO COME OUT THE IGNITION.AND IF I PUT THE KEY INTO THE RELEASE HOLE THE CAR CAN GO INTO GEAR.BUT IT WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR WITHOUT USING THE RELEASE BUTTON.I GOT INTO MY CAR STARTED IT THE RADIO WAS NOT ON SO I HIT THE RADIO SWITCH AND WHEN I DID EVERYTHING WENT OUT ON MY DASHBOARD.

The shifter release is powered by the brake switch, if your brake lights are working the power is probably there, meaning your release solenoid at the base of the shifter is bad. If the solenoid is bad then the key lock actuator will not work properly. The shift solenoid disconnects the power to the lock cylinder so the key can be removed. once it has been put in park, ( the key is not supposed to turn to lock position until the shifter is in park, so you won't leave the car in gear while exiting the vehicle). Check the bottom part of the shifter to see if the solenoid has had something spilled onto it or the wiring is bad. Now for the radio,(dash), you obviously created your own problem, shorted fuse, etc. Does this help.

You need to go back to school, you've had several bad advice answers so far. Read the question and think about your answer, before you answer. The ignition switch is not the problem.

his radio problem is more than his own fault. I've got one now I am trying to figure out that most stuff won't work unless the headlights are on. I fixed one headlight with just a fuse. but brake lights, radio, interior lights and such will not work unless headlight switch is on. everything like radio will turn off when headlight are turned off. has to be something in one of these modules. hope I find it and when I do I will post.
