well, what does the petrol gauge show when it's parked on level ground like normal?if it's full, then the float has no choice but to show full! example>>what would the oil dipstick show if the front of the car was facing down hill on an incline? then, what would oil level be on the dipstick with the front of the car facing up hill on an incline?
Can't compare gas guage readings on different vehicles when parked on an incline due to the location of the tank sender... Some are in front of the tank and some are in the rear of the tank.. That makes a big difference!! Unless the tank is FULL.. It's normal for GM fuel guage readings to vary 1/4 tank (25%) difference depending on what position it's parked in on an incline... IF the guage is showing near empty when on level ground... **Best put some gas in the tank** .. Never rely on gas guage readings unless on level surface, goes for all vehicles.
Okay kewl thank you. Now to figure out how to get the fuel light to work properly.
{ANSWER by pushrod , March 26, 2016 } Firstly.. To help cool and prolong electronic fuel pump life, fuel level should not be allowed to go much (if any) below 1/4 tank .. ** 'IF' the bulb in the instrumen cluster is ok ** .. The low fuel light segment of the (in-tank) fuel level sensor is suspect and may be more expensive to repair than it is actually worth! .. That's entirely up to you of course...
That's the prob. When its parked flat itl show almost empty. The same when its parked facing down. But when it uphill itl show the correct amount of fuel. I've owned a VW before and I know when it faces downhill itl show a little more fuel as does most other cars.
