I was told that 07 was the first year for turn by turn. I now have an 06 and it doesn't have it. Can it be installed after market?

When I push my on-star button, a live person comes on. Once I give her my destination, she asks if I want computerized voice directions. Its called turn by turn instructions. Had it in my 07. however on-star told me that it wasn't available in 06. Is there some way that it can be installed?
