why doesn't electronic gas gauge work? How & how much to repair it?

Thank you so much for your answer globalhelper! My mechanic is pretty "up" with new technology so will have him check it out. I am rather tired of using my trip mileage indicator to "guess" how many more miles I can travel, based on mpg average. Again many thanks! stormy10000
