automatic transaxel will not shift from 2nd to 3rd without letting up on the gas

Thanks for the response. Had the car checked by a local shop and the said it was an internal problem, i.e. $1,500 to $2,100 to fix. Earlier in the day a student mach. suggested I try Lucas oil treatment first to see if it might "unstick" 2nd gear. Well guess what, it worked (at least for now), only time will tell. That sure beats the first alternative and a week without the car. Hope this might help someone else.
