What is your question?
The struts broke and the wheel pulled free of the front axle. Struts used to be steel but now aluminum and seem very weak!! shouldn't have caused this damage.

Lighter parts give you better fuel economy and performance. Sounds like pretty standard damage for hitting a curb.
What's your auto repair question???
Does hitting a curb damage fallible automotive parts if the force applied exceeds structural capabilities of designed product?
F=ma or is it F=MxA?... Been a long time since Quantum Physics 101.... But I bet them there design engineers got it figured out!!!! .. However I'll admit... It don't take much of a lick anymore to tear some s..t up!
A heavy insurance claim as a result of building a crappy car due to the Gov't standards........ after Owning 16 Cadillac's over the years - it would be time to to move to a Mercedes or Audi ....something not made to fall apart!
Insurance claim would be even more for one of those cars. Good Luck!
