Sparks from the > **Double positive cables** .. Remove battery negative cable first .. Next: remove BOTH of the positive cables .. Next: clean the contact surfaces on 'ALL' cables until they shin like a new dime .. Next: clean them again! .. Re-attach positive cables first, then the negative cable, tighten all cables securely! ... That's most likely what the problem was to start with .. Happy motoring!
was the battery disconnected while doing the starter work?
yes it was disconnected
where are the sparks coming from? that makes no sense,if the battery was not hooked up backwards,or the hot wire to the starter was hooked up to a ground or,there is a cut in the hot wire and it's shorting to ground! do you have a test light? you may have fuses blown now. did you try to start the car?
the good ole side post battery that hides that crap!
Exactly! .. Specially in-BETWEEN BOTH them positive cables!
had a couple buicks and olds like that, but CRS has set in?
Likewise! .. Only reason I remembered is I Just fixed one Tuesday, came in on the hook .. Kinda hard to remember all the old stuff along with everything else.. I think the battery in 'my' computer is going dead anyway .. Plus didn't have 'much' RAM to start with!
