Car was driven without an air filter for a little over 2100 miles due to no engine air filter. Car broke down out of town at beach. Could sand be in engine?

that don't sound to good. did someone steal your air filter or what?
Not good for the MAF sensor , but seriously , unless your engine was driven in sand for a while ,I wouldn't worry about any other damage. I know it's a whole nother breed , but I drove my '94 Dodge Intrepid (3.3L pushrod engine!) for almost 200K without a filter , and it NEVER showed any signs of damage/wear. Maintained consistent 25mpg up until 296,000 , when the trans gave out after putting ADVANCE Auto parts ATF+4 trans fluid in it instead of ChyslerATF.
The dealership changed my oil and did not put the engine air filter back in. My vehicle was towed to another dealership out of town and that is when they told me the MAF was clogged due to no air filter
well,if that Honda/Acura Dealership didn't put a filter back and screwed up your MAF Sensor, then he may be looking for another place to work Monday! no telling how much trash sucked in there?
