my mr2 is having a stalling problem starts and run but stalls when put into gear

I don't have a scanner, not able to take to a shop. Ty for your reply

yes the check engine light comes on, mostly when the car is trying to stall. the car has 209k original tranny. and was a standard flush, drain, drop pan, replace filter, and the 2 shift solenoids, high-power air flush, then re-filled one quart Lucas tranny conditioner, the rest special fluid for imports, by castrol. tranny shifts fine once it past 20mph and put into D from L, it drives fine but no quick acceleration hardly any power. but down shifts smooth as could be no pulling or slipping. but once it gets under 20 in D and press gas it stalls.

BUT if you shift to 'L' it has normal pick-up/power?

Yes normal power, and I will get to over 20 mph and then put up n D and will drive without stalling but as barely ne power and am able to get up past 70 mph, and as I slow down it down shifts smoothly.
