What is your question?
The shop said the whole dash area has to be replaced to fix the "knob" & I can't find any information about it.

i would spend a little time researching that.youtube,google.maybe thats true, but research it anyways.some have said they replaced the knob from autozone, but read the back for different years to make sure it is for your car..then some say it is the vent control valve sticking.there are several complaints on this,if you google it.copy and paste the link, look for yours. http://climatecontrolknobs.com/
eBay has a whole page full of cheap parts for the heater-a/c control and even the whole controller....like I posted on your OTHER question!!!
I didn't ask how or where to buy a knob; but how to fix it. Thanks anyway.
That should be pretty obvious if the knob is broken!. Remove any traces of the old part and install the replacement part, if that's not doable....Have someone that knows how to replace the part do so!! It's a slide off and slide on proceedure, I don't know any other way to put it... Good luck.
