one inch leak every 100 miles. No chemical found in antifreeze

They have a history of cracks developing around thermostat housings, try a pressure test or keep an eye on the area to see if it gets worse. Have replaced several over the years, the replacement is reinforced with a different material other than plastic.
Do you have a rear AC/Heater system? If so check the lines under the car for seepage.
Just replaced the thermostat housing in mine in an Advance Auto parking lot, but I lost all my coolant and the engine temp light came on as well as the gauge being full "H". Three 8mm bolts, and two hoses. The temperature sensor comes off with a clip. The new part contains a new thermostat and cost $85. Two mechanics in the store confirmed that it is a very, very common issue with this vehicle.
