Car will not start. Lights work, won’t crank, clicks 3 times and stops.

Dash lights up, I turn the key and there are three clicks then nothing. The car ran fine last evening but now it will not even crank. I tried it with a jumpstart unit, and the same thing happens -- just the three clicks.
