When driving the temp rises to 230.

Actually 230° is not uncommon for engine operating temperature.. No - the hose isn’t likely the culprit causing a problem here - IF indeed a problem exists. Recommend *hands-on* evaluation by qualified personnel.
Good idea to check radiator cooling fans operation - qualified personnel will include that in the evaluation procedures.
