Why would my speedometer stop working after installing a new radio

What is your question?

We installed a new radio, the wire harness connector we bought didn't line up correctly so we cut the original connector. Stupidly forgot to disconnect the battery and made one full cut and blew the odometer fuse. We hard wired the after market radio connector to the cut wires for the original radio. Started the truck and everything worked except the speed gauge on the dash.
