What is your question?
When driving normally, I get 21-25 mpg on my 2002 Chevy Tracker 2.0 4 cyl. If I use the cruise control on the same route with the same load at the same speeds, mileage drops to a horrible 13-16 mpg. I do notice that it kicks down a lot more on cruise control
What makes this problem better or worse?
worse when cruise control activated
How long has your 2002 Chevrolet Tracker had this problem?
several months

Cruise control is a convenience only so you can rest your right foot / leg - rarely will it ever increase MPG due to the fact it tries to maintain a constant MPH and will utilize the throttle excessively if need be to do so - according to terrain .. I suppose if traveling on a relatively flat highway for 'several' miles it 'might' be as effective as the operator at maintaining throttle control as needed. My Chevy Blazer is the same - fact is they all are - it depends on the conditions / geolocation the vehicle is to be driven.
In reality - persons who claim to get better MPG using cruise control are simply mistaken !
I reiterate - persons who claim to get better MPG using cruise control and will argue the fact - are likely poor drivers !
