Where is the thermostat

(1999 Chevrolet Cavalier)
Dashboard says it is overheating but it's not bogging out and fan is kicking on also diagnostics tester says that nothing is wrong
What seems to make the problem better or worse? I don’t know just bought it
How long have you had this problem? Just got the car a month ago

The 2.2L AND the 2.4L engines both have BOTTOM hose thermostats .. The 2.2L thermostat can be replaced by an experienced DIYer ..

The 2.4L thermostat needs to be replaced by a professional.

Follow the upper radiator hose towards the engine. It's at the end of that hose.
