the starter is really buried. about 3 hours labor to get to it, if you have all the tools, and a hoist and a stand to support the frt of the engine after you remove the frt motor mount.
The starter is on the front side of the engine. You may consider having a qualified technician replace your starter because of the complex nature of replacement. Here is why: Disconnect the negative battery cable.. Remove and relocate the upper radiator crossmember, Remove the radiator fan module. Remove the wiring harness clip from front mount. Remove the coolant line clamp bolt. Remove the upper nut from the front mount. Remove the upper starter mounting bolt. Remove the middle starter bolt. Raise vehicle. Remove the lower front mount nut. Raise and support engine. Remove the lower bracket bolt to transmission. Remove the lower bracket bolt to engine block. Relocate the front mount and bracket. . Disconnect the positive battery cable from starter. . Disconnect the solenoid connector from starter. Remove the lower starter bolt. Remove starter from vehicle.
it's attached to the lower part of the engine, near the transaxle. You didn't say which motor you have, but the procedure for replacing a starter is fairly challengine, with the 3.8 L engine the simplest. the 3.5 L engine is the most complicated, including lifting the motor. the 4.0L engine requires removing an exhaust manifold for access.. I recommend going to a Chryslar specialist. Here's a directory link for you: https://repairpal.com/chrysler-repair-in-cottage-grove-wisconsin
