what is wrong with the headlights?
They go off after driving for a few minutes. Pulling the switch out to turn them on manually doesn't help. Both the high beam and low beams go out. Running lights stay on. Could be the switch I suppose but that seems weird. Anyway I figure the relay was the cheapest thing to replace - if I could find it. A drawing from a Buick Regal of the same vintage showed 4 relays behind the glove box. I looked and sure enough there were relays there but only three. There was a place for a fourth but it was empty. Lucky me, the drawing said that the fourth one (the one missing) was the headlight relay. Yay.
well now i am confused.you said Yay.does this mean you put a relay in the 4th spot, and now the headlights are working?and if so ,how did they work before?or did you just get the car,and someone removed the relay for some odd reason?
There are headlamp fuses there but no headlamp relay. I had one answer for a Regal that showed it in a bank of relays behind the glove box. I looked in there and the one that was listed for headlights wasn't there. I tried unplugging each of the relays I found there and none of them affected the headlights.
the other possible location would be under the dash to the left of steering wheel their should be a fuse box located there both panels are listed
That fuse panel is actually on the right side (passenger side) of the dash under a pop off panel. Nothing useful in there either.
according to Mitchel 1 repair that panel has four relays one of which according to diagram the one to the right is the relay.
