When starting car the starter won't crank and the engine won't turn over

Good thought.....

Thought about what you said so I first I tried rolling the engine over by had couldn't get it to roll.i just thought I couldn't over come the compression cut I left the plugs in.so put a new battery in from other car because it was so dead from cranking on it.cranked it and it fired right turns out compressor was seized and snapped the belt since I don't have the cash to buy a new one I bypassed it till spring when it starts to warm up.thanks for the idea u got me in the right direction.
