What is underneath my back seats that smells like gas

When you lift the back dear cushion you should see the cover plate to access the in tank fuel pump - it has a black wiring harness and a rubber grommet in the center. The fuel pump is below that plate and likely has a leak on top.. Now you do whatever you desire - I very highly recommend having qualified personnel check this out for *hands-on* evaluation BEFORE further vehicle operation..
