What is your question?
First mechanic was stumped. Second changed a bunch of sensors, the fuel pump among other things and had no luck. Then to a third who said I needed a new engine and that this was a common problem for a Vue. So I replaced the engine with a brand new one. It drove fine on the way home from the shop (15 or so miles) and the next morning it went 4 miles. Same problem as before. I then took it to a fifth mechanic who was highly recommended. The man said he couldn't find anything wrong with it and that he was stumped. He checked everything that could be causing it to shut down like it does but found nothing. His best guess was that the computer is overheating and shutting off and that the problem was a design flaw. And that if he was indeed right it wouldn't and couldn't be fixed.... The man is one of the best at his job but this doesn't sound right to me... The engine is brand new.... New Fuel pump... new Electrical and sensors throughout the vehicle... Please help!
How long has your 2002 Saturn Vue had this problem?
Since I bought it from a used car lot....

WOW! ....... This is almost unbelievable.. Too many mechanics involved for one thing - plus at this point I would have to question their actual expertise regardless of hearsay.. I’ll opt out here and give others an opportunity to assist. Good luck!
I am assuming when you say a new engine you meant just another used engine maybe with lower miles or similar. Anyway, if the same symptoms are experienced with this other new engine, then your issue is most likely not on the mechanical side, but rather your electronic side. We have done many Saturns throughout the years and although I will not tell you it is anything definite without proper diagnostics, your last technician is probably on the right track. I have had to change PCM' or ECU's more often than any other branded vehicle. The modules for these cars are no longer an arm and a leg like they used to be other than the fact that they are not readily available like they were. However, you can ship yours in for testing and repair if they do find out that there is an internal malfunction on your motherboard after inspection. Call our shop for the module repair information as I cannot advertise other places' names on here. I believe that is the best course of action for you at this time based on your brief description though. Good luck!
