Have you ever replaced a starter before? There are 3 bolts holding this cover on the engine which takes a 10mm socket to remove. I strongly suggest you get some hands-on help with this as it will get harder than just removing that cover!! Before you do anything, remove the negative battery cable!!,,,,,,Have you checked BOTH of the positive cables to see if they are 'clean' and tight? They give a bunch of trouble!! After cleaning ALL battery cables and it dosen't work, tap the starter with a hammer while a helper turns/holds the key to start. If it attempts to work/crank, then your starter IS defective and needs to be replaced! Remember to remove the neg cable before attempting to remove the starter. Good luck.
