Likely the ignition lock cylinder is malfunctioning. Sometimes the key cannot go all the way in, sometimes the tumbler cannot turn. You can try squirting just a little bit of lubricant onto the key, and sliding it in, wiggling it around, and moving the steering wheel back and forth until finally it will go in or turn. If this does not work, time to see a technician, and possibly replace the ignition lock cylinder.
