i just bought a 2003 navigator it has 113k miles runs and shifts very good, but now when i put it in reverse i get a squeaking or a vibration that i can hear coming from the rear axel area. just wondering if anyone has had anything like this or anyone might be able to give me and idea what the problem is.
Is this an expensive or difficult fix?
It's a guess!.... IF that is the problem, while it's not a DIY repair usually, it's not that hard either... Nor that expensive.... We can only offer a best guess here!! ..... Have a mechanic check it out....
ok i guess ill have to have someone take a look at it. sometimes its doesnt make any noise sometimes a squeak and sometimes a vibration so its not consistent at all
Still has the classic symptoms of a failing universal joint.... Driveshaft needs to be removed to check... Beyond most diy'er capability to know what to look for.... let alone replace the joint.... No disrespect intended... Just don't know your skill level!
