If the transmission shift lever is in park and the warning comes on, testing must be performed to see what the engine and transmission's processor as well as the body control modules are seeing in relation to shift lever position. A sensor or wiring could be at fault. Software concerns could also be present, as well as network wiring. Hands on testing with proper test equipment and reference material is required.
Just a couple of diy suggestions - many times the 'cup holders' are positioned near the shift lever / cavity .. IF coffee, soda or other syrupy / viscous - sticky liquids get spilled down into the shifter cavity that can cause the 'mechanical' / electrical components to become intermittently inoperative .. This is especially true IF the protective shifter boot has been damaged in any way .. Do not know your skill level however this is just a suggestion you or a auto repair savvy friend may want to check out.. Additionally - You may not be using enough effort when shifting to the park position .. Shouldn't have to FORCEFULLY shift to park - just try using a little more effort... Otherwise should heed suggestions given in other answer..
