Scraping noise coming from the front, driver's side.

Just purchased a 2008, 35,000 miles. Great condition. Just now noticing a scraping sound coming from what seems to be the front of the car, in or around the steering wheel. It only starts after driving for awhile. Literally, sounds like a scraping sound inside the housing of the steering wheel.
Also, several 'serv TPM. The tire pressure is fine. Could this need serviced because of age of the car?
What makes this problem better or worse?
The car has to be driven for awhile for the problem to appear.
