running fine but all of the sudden today stopped running while driving

Thank you so have mechanic do spark plug test and fuel pressure test, it was running fine but when idling today it sounded different a bit louder then normal kind of sounded like a loud tea pot then drove it about 5 miles and then it died as I applied brakes, did start back up right away but only for a min then dies again turns over but does not start, looked under hood and parts of motor were very hot to touch still would not start towing to garage in morning just wanted ideas of what it could be as I am a female and garages love me,

check it yourself.did it overheat?nothing came on dash,temp gauge go to hot?check engine light not on?

Stevieray1 I have that problem with a 2000 model 2.4 liter. Ran hot cooled down added water and would not start.it will turn over but not crank. What could this problem be?

check for spark.check fuel pressure.timing belt ok?not broken?

Garage says it is timing belt, so $2000 to fix if no valve damage

you most likely have valves bent.if you have been trying to start it,there is damage.if you drove that car home,then the belt is not broken.if you drove it anywhere,the belt is not broken!!!

did they tell you the belt was broken?did they show you the broken belt?

Nope just said it was belt

you can buy a engine at Autozone for $2500.00 plus tax,and your old engine!
