What is your question?
I have a 1999 AvalonXLS, with 60,000 miles. Has been used mostly for city/suburban driving. What is a reasonable mileage for replacement of the timing belt and water pump? I am ignoring what the repair shops say because their motivation is generate revenue.

It's time to replace the belt now!... You can sign the work order and the receipt noting that you refused any other parts installation and just get the belt replaced!... Keep in mind that, by doing so, you release the installer of any responsibility & warranty on the labor OR parts!!... It most likely will be ok....'(most likely)'..!! Now the reason the shops suggest the water pump and other components is to cover their own a.., not 'just' to generate more profit!!.... IF the water pump or other timing components fail....so does the new belt!!... I hope you will consider in that way as well......... Good dependable car!!!!
