Replaced the stoplight switch on the brake pedal. Brake light now stay.

With brake pedal released - the white actuator rod MUST BE pushed back into the body of the green switch. What is keeping this from happening? Depress the switch white actuator rod with finger while helper looks at brake lights on rear - lights turn off ?

Since this switch MUST BE installed into a stationary bracket that has no adjustment - strongly suspect incorrect installation!
