Rattle when I close the door from front of boot

(1990 Jaguar XJ6)
in Annapolis, MD on January 17, 2018
I always have a rattle from the front of the boot when I close a door. I have removed the two "flappers" on the front bulkhead of the boot to no avail.
What seems to make the problem better or worse? always happens
How long have you had this problem? since I bought the car (about a year ago)

Noises are really hard to figure out, especially over the internet. It requires hands on testing for sure.
