How does the Volvo XC90 brake? In the front or the back?

I realize that both sets are used. I was under the impression the the front pads took the brunt of the work though, right? Like just normal around town driving. Everything I see says that the front brake pads typically need to be replaced first, and certainly not at 20,000 miles
