What is your question?
This car has been well taken care of, was my daily driver and now my daughter's daily driver. She was going to drive her and her friend to school this morning only when the passenger side door closed the Sibe airbags deployed. . Scared the girls real bad...they came out crying...the girls are just fine though. ..they no longer want anything to do with Volvo, can't blame them.. So what the heck is up with this? I have never seen this happen before on any brand or model vehicle. Is there a way to disarm the complete airbag systems. I would rather have none then one deployed for no reason, not a good thing while driving ... suddenly. ..BAM..for no reason. . I'm sure Volvo wants more to repair the problem then what a 2000 S 80 is worth.

all kinds of complaints about airbags on that year car,but NO recall.here is just one of many, see below.. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 VOLVO S80. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE AND EXITING, THE DRIVER'S SIDE, PASSENGER'S SIDE AND THE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT DETERMINE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND AGREED TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
thank you for your reply.. you really think Volvo would repair this on a 2000 year model S80 2.9..? I guess I should call Volvo dealer tell them about it . ask if they will fix it under a warranty or recall . service bulliten..someway somehow?.. The closest Volvo dealer to me is in Dallas..about 350 miles away.. I will double check on where the nearest dealer. what have I got to loose.. I don't see Volvo doing anything..I've asked them about other recalls issued on the S 80.... Volvo said there out dated ..no longer a recall? I will let you know what happens.
ok,i found that by just doing a search on airbags deploying on your car. i wish you good luck with it,and you said the Volvo Dealer said some recalls expired. well, they must NOT have been safety recalls, because they NEVER expire! glad your daughter and friend are ok!!!
