Thanks for the response. I listened to the noise a little closer today and it seems like it's coming from the top of the engine and it's only for about 30 to 45 seconds. Could it be that the oil trap is clogged and not allowing the oil to reach the engine fast enough?
Well, I don't 'think' so but that's a good thought!.. Since you mentioned that, it brings a thought to mind.. It is possible there may be a problem with the crankcase breather system.. Commonly known as the PCV valve on domestic vehicles.. Volvo is a bit different as I recall.. 'Temporarily' remove the oil fill cap prior to starting next time and try it to see if noise stops.. Re-attach oil cap.... Post results.
