A "specialty" repair guy told me Volvos are notorious for eating head lamp bulbs? He said I should buy a bulk quantity & keep them in my trunk. Within 10 minutes of leaving the dealership (after signing the "no-warranty" papers), the left head lamp (low beam) goes out. 10 miles later, the right one goes out. Guess he missed his buddy? :-)

Yes they are famous for this problem!! However bulb life can be prolonged by replacing the wire connectors to the bulbs and adding dielectric compond to the terminals. Handling bulbs with bare skin will also shorten their life!! Btw, these bulbs are also the drl's so they are on anytime the car is driven!....more time in use than the high beams. More frequent failure rate!
Thank you. I owned a 2008, but never had this problem. But then again, it wasn't driven that much either.
4 years newer as well, take a look at the plastic connectors that plug up to the bulbs, bet you will find signs of heat,, distorted or partially melted connectors! Replace the female wire terminals and add dielectric to the male bulb terms.
That's exactly what's happening. Ok, will do. Thanks!
